Interesting Characters You Meet Selling Things Online

Recently, I cleared my house and found many things that I don't need or use anymore. Things include

i) Cobwebs
ii) 1 Dead Lizard
iii) Mountain Bike
iv) XBox
v) Amplifier
vi) A Car. This 1 is parked in front of the house though. Seldom driven.
vii) Speakers
viii) Projector
viiii) Many other doodads.

Except item i and ii, most of them can be sold to recover some cash. If you want item i and ii, i can sell them too if you want. Just drop me a comment. Whatever rocks your boat man.

I took a few pictures, wrote a nice ad and posted them on Mudah which is something like Craiglists with better interface. Over the next 6 months, i sold most of them. However, the process of selling them is indeed interesting. Met a lot of interesting characters along the way.

Low Ballers
Probably the most annoying bunch of them all. Your asking price is RM500. Market value is say RM450-550, willing buyer willing seller. These guys with 5" thick concrete face have the balls to come and offer me RM80. I gave them my piece of mind several times, but somethings i'm too lazy and say RM500 best price. Most would just stop replying you.

People who ask for pictures. And then stop replying after you sent them.
I can understand the need to ask for pictures. Since mudah only allows a certain number of pictures depending on what you are selling, it may not be enough to gauge the condition correctly. However, as per the title, some would just flat out stop replying. To me that is just plain rude. If you don't want something, just say no thanks or at least say something.

People who ask questions, and then suddenly stop replying.
As above. Just plain rude.

People who ask plenty of questions, and then suddenly stop replying
As above. Even more so because you just spent a lot of time answering their questions. A bit of courtesy would be appreciated.

People who ask questions, then later start forwarding you other things and try to be your friend.
Met one. Probably a sales person for insurance or mutual fund. Been forwarding me a lot of such ads. Tried to start a conversation with me several times. Being the introvert that I am, I tried to be polite but kept a distance. Don't really enjoy the conversations and a bit creepy honestly. I'm sure there are people who are very outgoing and can start conversations with others easily, but I am not one of them.

Scammers
Danger, Red flag here. Somebody allegedly sent me RM1000 for a RM100 item, saying that RM100 is too low for his bank to process, with RM1000 being the minimum. So I have to bank in RM900 to him first before his bank will release the money. Nice try man. I worked many years abroad and have used several banks in UK and Australia. So kind of see right through that. The email they sent me even had some grammatical mistakes, which i find it hard to believe since that email allegedly came from a country where the language originated from ( UK, see what i did there? ). Obviously the money didn't materialize in my bank account after 3 months.

Another asked me to send the item first cause his grandmother needs it badly and it would take 3 weeks before the money is transferred.

Here you go guys. My first rant in this blog. My parents would be proud.

PS: Eagle eyed readers would have spotted the car. Yes, i sold a car privately online. If you like to know the process ( Puspakom, Loan, JPJ ), do let me know and i can write a blog post about it. There are several Malaysian blogs covering that topic, so it would be quite redundant.
